From the history of the department

The Department of Architecture was established in 2009 under the leadership of Professor Khakimov H. Kh. at the Faculty of Construction and Transport of the Khujand branch of the Technical University of Tajikistan named after Academician M. Osimi and functioned until 2011. In 2011, the department became part of the department of construction of the aforementioned faculty and functioned as a department of construction and architecture. In 2016, the teaching staff of the department joined the engineering and technological faculty and expanded their activities to the design and architecture department. From 2020 to today, the Department of Architecture existed as an independent department at the Faculty of Construction and Transport of the Polytechnic Institute of the Tajik Technical University named after academician M.S. Osimi in Khujande. During the period of their activity, the teachers of the department trained more than 400 talented and creative architects; graduates of the department work in the field of construction of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The main activity of the department

The "Architecture" department is considered one of the main components of the educational and scientific structure of the Polytechnic Institute of the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Osimi in Khujand and trains specialists in the directions 1-690101 - Architecture (bachelor's degree) and 1-69010105 - Restoration of architectural monuments (master's degree).

The department carries out active educational and methodological, scientific research, public-educational activities, and establishes international relations in the field of architecture. The teachers of the department have significant experience in preparing students for annual participation in international, republican, regional, city, intra-university competitions and exhibitions in the field of architecture and town planning, with prize-winning places. The teacher of the department - Yusupov F.G. and Zokirov R.Sh. a member of the Union of Architects of Tajikistan; Yusupov F.G. was awarded a gold medal by the Union of Architects of Tajikistan for significant contribution to the field of architecture in 2018

The main directions of scientific and creative research

The main direction of scientific and creative research of the department is to improve the design of buildings and civil structures taking into account the characteristics of the northern regions of Tajikistan. In particular, professors of the department, as qualified specialists in the field of architecture, designed, restored and built more than 200 buildings and structures in the social sphere. For example, a new regional maternity hospital with 130 beds in the city of Khujand, heart disease and vascular surgery center named after A. Orifov with 120 beds in Sogd region, a building of the radiological department of an oncological dispensary in Sogd region, houses 5,9,12,18 12-, 18-, 45-, 97-family houses with a shopping center and parking in the city of Khujand, a regional oncological dispensary, a 50-bed medical building at the regional endocrinological center, private residential houses in the cities of Khujand and Isfara, two secondary schools in the village Gazian has 240 beds, a high-class hotel and sanatorium " Bahoriston " in the Sogd region.

Department of International Activities:

The teachers of the department participate in the international project "Assessment of ecological risks and reduction of their consequences on objects of the cultural heritage of Central Asia" (ERAMCA). The main goal of this project is to understand local needs, develop and implement a master's program, develop and implement a digital library with various educational materials, train local teachers and technical specialists in inter-industry relations.

Graduates of the bachelor's degree in this specialty acquire the following professional competencies:

- development of the concept of buildings, structures and interior design;

- creation of projects, sketches and plans with the help of modern graphic programs and manual drawing;

- production of models and graphic albums;

- coordination of prepared projects with regulatory bodies;

- carrying out technical calculations of the project;

- control of the construction process;

- communication with customers, contractors and suppliers of building materials.

Graduates of the specialty 1_690101 - Architecture can work as architects, designers, builders, specialists of project-experimental institutes, specialists of project-experimental organizations, architects of non-construction enterprises, architects of projects of microdistricts, cities, districts, designers of objects, buildings and structures, restorers of buildings and historical structures.

Master's program:

• 69010105 – Restoration of architectural monuments.

Graduates of the master's degree in this specialty are engaged in the restoration of the historical architectural environment, in particular, they update the projects of historical buildings and structures taking into account modern requirements, determine the importance of historical buildings and the historical and cultural heritage of society, control and evaluate the results of restoration works.
